# Filter

The passage filter can be accessed by clicking on the ![Passage Filter Icon](img/filter.svg) icon in the
[Navigation Bar](functionality_overview.md#navigation-bar).

The filter can be enabled and disabled by toggling the checkbox. The sliders can be used to define ranges for
citation and segment count. Passages which have a citation and segment count which falls in the given ranges,
will be indicated in the heatmap with an arrow and highlighted in the literary text.

:::{tip}
The filter can be useful for identifying passages which could be of interest. For example, passages which combine a
high citation count with a relatively lower segment count are an indication that a passage is evenly quoted.
